D’Orsogna’s $66 million state-of-the-art facility at the Merrifield Business Park, Mickleham has officially opened providing employment for over 200 personnel.

The Victorian Minister for Jobs, Innovation and Trade, Martin Pakula said “…the Victorian Government heartedly supports D’Orsogna’s expansion and job creation in Melbourne’s North, and developing opportunities in the domestic and export markets.”

Also speaking at the opening ceremony, D’Orsogna’s Managing Director Greig Smith acknowledged the financial contributions made towards the new facility by the Victorian Government and City of Hume. “We’ve taken a measured approach to this substantial investment after establishing a modest footprint in Mt Waverley 10 years ago.” “The new Merrifield production facility will meet consumer demand for our products and help secure the future of D’Orsogna,” Greig Smith said.

D’Orsogna is expecting to double its production volume and create innovative varieties of cured and cooked whole and sliced hams, bacon, gourmet continental goods, sausages and other meat protein products.

The 11,000m2 facility features 8,500m2 of rooftop solar to reduce its carbon footprint. This is combined with the latest energy and water conservation technology, and a strong commitment to waste recycling. Further expansion is anticipated in the future.
