Home made baked beans are easy, hearty and healthy.
I like to throw everything into my slow cooker in the morning and come home in the afternoon to the aromas of D’Orsogna’s Triple Smoked Ham, tomatoes beans and fresh herbs wafting through the house.
I like to serve these beans in little ceramic dishes with an egg baked on top to make them a substantial and satisfying breakfast.
- Place all ingredients into a slow cooker and cook for 8 – 10 hours.
- Check seasoning and serve with sourdough toast, or ¾ fill individual ceramic dishes with the beans, crack an egg on top and bake for 10 – 12 minutes at 180 degrees C or until the egg is just set.
TIP: If you don’t have a slow cooker, place all ingredients in an ovenproof tray, cover and bake for 2 hours at 140 degrees C
