The most innovative products of the year voted by more than 10,000 Australian shoppers have been crowned in the annual Product of the Year Awards in November 2019.

Product of the Year is the world’s largest consumer-voted awards program recognising product innovation across a variety of categories.

“We’ve seen a resurgence of emerging brands winning in their respective categories as leaders in their space, and we couldn’t be happier to welcome them into the program,” Product of the Year Director, Sarah Connelly said.

D’Orsogna’s Flame Roasted Carolina Style Sweet Dijon Mustard Leg Ham was selected as the top product in the Smallgoods Deli category, with the product available nationally in Woolworths stores in the deli and chiller aisle. The high-quality leg ham has been made with a perfect balance of American barbeque pitmasters inspired Sweet Dijon Mustard flavour, further enriching the taste trip by double smoking with oak wood and real flame roasting.

The Nielsen research that determines the winners involves assessing the responses of more than 10,000 consumers on relevance, uniqueness, excitement, likeability, distinctiveness and innovation.

“It’s pleasing to see that consumers are backing these independent brands, with our research finding that ‘more than half of the consumers surveyed would purchase new products, even if they were unaware of the brand name.’” Ms Connelly said.
