Country of origin
Most food products for retail sale in Australia require a Country of Origin Label (CoOL). It identifies the percentage of ingredients that are sourced from overseas. An example of the three-component graphic is shown here:
The kangaroo-in-a-triangle symbol shows that the product is made in Australia.
A shaded bar chart shows the minimum percentage of Australian ingredients, calculated from the weight of the ingredients at the start of production.
A label states whether the food was grown, produced, or made in Australia, and for “made in” products, it also shows the percentage of Australian ingredients.
