What is the shelf life after opening a product?

Accepted Answer

We do not include a shelf life after opening on our packets, as there are too many variables we cannot account for that may affect this. As long as the product is still in date and kept in a suitably hygienic refrigerator (we recommend below 5°C), we expect it to be safe to consume for at least 3 days after opening. The likelihood is that the product will last longer than this, but we cannot guarantee a specific timeframe and instead leave it to the customers’ discretion.

How long do smallgoods last in the freezer?

We do not recommend freezing our smallgoods, as this can affect their texture, flavour and overall quality. For the best eating experience, we suggest purchasing what you need and consuming the product within the date indicated on the packaging, so you can enjoy its freshness as intended.

Is your bacon gluten-free, and why isn’t it labelled as such?

We do not add any gluten-containing ingredients to our streaky bacon range.
To make a “gluten-free” statement on product packaging, the manufacturer must send the product for laboratory testing to confirm the presence or absence of gluten. These claims were originally intended for products that have traditionally contained gluten but have been made without it, hence the need for testing and verification.
Today, many companies that produce products which do not, or should not, typically contain gluten will still include a gluten-free statement on the label due to the growing popularity of gluten free products. This has led to some confusion in the market. When one product makes a claim about its gluten content, other products in the same category may be questioned, even though they have never contained gluten.
To clarify, any product sold in Australia that contains gluten, or a gluten-containing ingredient, is legally required to state its presence in the allergen declaration on the packaging.

Where can I buy D’Orsogna products?

D’Orsogna products are available in Woolworths supermarkets nationwide, as well as in Coles and selected local independent stores such as IGA, Good Grocer, Foodland, Spudshed and others. You can also visit our product page on the D’Orsogna website to see which products are stocked at each retailer.

We are sorry to hear when a product does not meet expectations. If you have a quality concern, please contact us through the Product Quality form on the D’Orsogna website and provide as many details as you can, including the product name, pack size, use-by date and where you purchased it.
Keeping the packaging and any remaining product (if possible) also helps our team investigate and follow up with you.

Are your products gluten-free?

D'Orsogna's manufacturing facilities in Palmyra, Western Australia, and Merrifield, Victoria, are gluten-free facilities.
 
Many of our pre-packed products carry a "gluten-free" claim on the packaging. Where a product carries this claim, it is verified through testing by an independent NATA-accredited laboratory. If a product does not display a gluten-free claim, we cannot guarantee that it meets the requirements to be classified as gluten-free, even if it does not contain gluten-containing ingredients.
 
Please note that we can only provide gluten-free assurance for our pre-packed products. We cannot provide the same assurance for D'Orsogna products sold from supermarket service deli counters, as these products may be handled by store staff alongside gluten-containing products, creating a risk of cross-contamination.
For the most accurate information, always refer to the product packaging and allergen declarations.
