D’Orsogna is featured in the State Library of Western Australia’s new exhibition, A Recipe for Life: The Food That Shapes Us, which explores the stories, people and moments that have shaped Western Australia’s food heritage.

The exhibition brings together items from the State Library’s collection, including historic cookbooks, menus from well-known restaurants, archival photography and advertising from iconic WA brands and eateries. D’Orsogna is represented as part of this broader celebration of the state’s evolving food culture and the role food plays in identity, family and community.

As part of the exhibition, Marco D’Orsogna was invited to share his personal story through the Library’s new oral history series, alongside five other prominent figures from Western Australia’s food and hospitality community.

A WA story built on family, tradition and innovation

D’Orsogna’s story began in 1927, when the D’Orsogna family arrived in Fremantle from Italy. From a small family butcher shop established in West Perth in 1949, the business grew into a brand recognised across Western Australia and Australia more broadly.

Today, D’Orsogna remains proudly WA-born and family-inspired, continuing to create quality smallgoods that bring people together around the table.
