Country of Origin

Most food products for retail sale in Australia require a Country of Origin Label (CoOL). This identifies the percentage of ingredients that are sourced domestically and the portion from overseas. An example of this three-component graphic is shown below right.

1) The kangaroo in a triangle symbol quickly identifies the product is manufactured in Australia.

2) The minimum proportion of Australian ingredients, is illustrated in a shaded bar chart. This calculation is based on the weight of ingredients used at the start of the production process.

3) A statement identifying if the food was grown, produced or made in Australia and in the case of 'made in' claims, the percentage of Australian ingredients in the product.

At D’Orsogna, we use both Australian and imported ingredients to create consistently high-quality and flavoursome products at the best possible price to our customers.

Pork is very popular in Australia. A little known fact is while our pork producers play a very important part in the Australian agricultural industry, they do not produce sufficient pork to satisfy local demand. To meet this local demand, meat processors like D’Orsogna import raw materials to bridge the gap.

D'Orsogna only sources Pork from Australia, and the Australian Government approved Pork suppliers ** in North America and Western Europe. The Australian Department of Agriculture governs imported meat quality and standards.
