Bacon Asparagus Pastry Twists
Ingredients
Method
Start by preheating your oven to 200°C to ensure it’s ready for baking.
While the oven heats up, prepare the puff pastry by slicing it into strips that are approximately 1 cm wide. Set these strips aside for later use.
Next, take the streaky bacon out of its packaging and slice each piece in half lengthwise to create thin, manageable strips.
For assembly, take one asparagus spear and wrap it with a strip of bacon, spiraling it from top to bottom. After that, take a strip of puff pastry and loop it around the asparagus, weaving it in and out of the bacon as you go. Continue this process for all remaining asparagus spears.
Once wrapped, arrange the asparagus on a baking tray lined with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
To enhance the flavour, brush the wrapped spears with an egg wash, then sprinkle them with salt, pepper, and garlic powder for added seasoning.
Finally, bake the asparagus in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until they are golden brown and puffed up, making for a delightful appetiser.
